Frequently Asked Questions

1.    Who is Philippines-Business.com?

Philippines-Business.com is a privately held independent business directory service, E-Commerce enabler and business services provider established in 2006.

2.    What is Philippines-Business.com trying to do?

Philippines-Business.com wants to provide local MSMEs with an expanded marketing reach but without the traditionally heavy cost associated in making that reach. The best approach is to use the Internet both for leverage and as a multiplier effect. The issue then is how to make such an idea both feasible and affordable to even the smallest MSME, SOHO or startup businesses.

The answer is to provide a distinct and focussed website where new or less Internet savvy sites could lean on to leverage and achieve a higher level of exposure. The practical path for Philippines-Business.com would therefore have to be three-fold:

- To provide an affordable and cost effective portal for small business owners to promote and advertise their products or services, both locally and internationally;

- To provide a distinct and focussed portal to attract and help visitors find the products and services they want; and

- To teach any business owner willing to take a leap from their "brick and mortar" setup into a "read and click" environment, in order to improve their competitiveness.

3.    How could Philippines-Business.com achieve her mission?

Philippines-Business.com believes that she should bring the websitesof all MSMEs (and later other businesses) in Philippines under one roof for ease of search and better focus in the promotion of goods, services and products.

Philippines-Business.com can then proceed to 'advertise' the smaller local businesses ( including shops in the barangays/housing estates ) within the Philippines so that locals (and maybe the tourists) can have an easier time to find the things they want when they want. Secondly, it would also be a good starting point for foreign companies wanting to seek business partners in the Philippines.

4.  What then is the role Philippines-Business.com to play?

Philippines-Business.com wants to provide the friendly and practical technical expertise behind the Internet Learning Curve for the local SMEs. We believe that this learning process is best done by experiencing and working on a real-time working model. For this reason, we provide several cost-effective solutions and gathered several business associates to ensure that we either shorten the learning curve or can provide the extra oversight function so that our clients have a comfortable ride into the Internet and E-Commerce super highway.

One of these solutions would be the low cost usage of the E-Commerce software (of which a small charge is levied only when a sales is made). We hope that lowering cost items such as this will speed up adoption of E-Commerce as another way of doing business.

Ultimately, all local MSMEs would be comfortable and conversant with E-Commerce and overall Philippines would be in a better position to maintain her competitive edge in the international or regional markets.

5.   How do I use Philippines-Business.com?

You can see that our site, Philippines-Business.com is divided into several distinct areas, but with each able to provide a piece of the overall picture on the business environment in Philippines.

6.    Who can list in the directory of Philippines-Business.com?

Any and every business registered in Philippines, regardless of ownership, will be welcome into the directory. Such business can be either home-based, corporate offices or even web-based; so long as their registered address is in Philippines. [ Due to a review of our directory structure, we are now able to list both local SMEs and non-MSMEs. This would give a more rounded representation of companies in Philippines. ]

(Foreign businesses may be listed in our site but we would not be promoting their sites. Please see Point 12 for details.)

7.    Can I buy things at Philippines-Business.com?

Yes, you may; but these pertains only to products and services of our portal. However if you wish to develop your own ecommerce site, we have the capability and skills to work with you.  In fact, we would be delighted to introduce a simple templated website, with shopping cart capability, to you when you feel ready for it.

However Philippines-Business.com does not aspire to be an e-commerce site. Rather we want to encourage the MSMEs to consider using a Shopping Cart to help them achieve another revenue stream. In this way, they can better understand and experience the Internet and Cyber Shopping on their own, but with the assurance that Philippines-Business.com is ready to assist them through the learning curve.

8.   How can Philippines-Business.com promote my business for me?

Philippines-Business.com wants to pull business to our clients' websites. We shall rely on several avenues to encourage visits - active participation or promotions by our clients; linkages with regional or country directories; by our sales-cum-educational team; by media advertisements, promotions and other forms of publicity, and by emailing to our opt-in respondents in our mailing lists. Contact us for a no-obligations discussion today.

9.   What else can Philippines-Business.com do?

Philippines-Business.com can only do as much as a client is willing to take our suggestions and guidelines. We have our vision and we want all our clients to achieve theirs, through the Internet, and at a cost way below what it would cost were they to remain with the traditional advertising and promotional tools. The Internet is here to stay. It is high time that everyone and every business consider how and what its impact will be if they are not familiar with it.

10.   Do you charge for your services?

Yes we do, but at a very affordable rate and not for every item. As we are a private commercial company we do have to cover our costs to ensure the continuance of our services and to achieve our goals to finding the things you want an enjoyable experience. However, we do have several in-house consultants to assist you in your various requirements in business development; from starting a business to financing to moving into E-Commerce. We could be most happy to give you more details.

11.   Why are some of the businesses I know not in the directory?

We are not exactly a dot com company, with many investors willing to see if our experiment will work or not. We are an established, traditional, and privately funded business entity which try to weave social responsibility, public education and business profitability into what we do. So, if you could recommend any company or business that you know we have missed, or you could submit their URLs and short descriptions, we would proceed to list them. Better yet, get them to visit our site and to make some enquiries.

We would be most happy to answer them and make them our clients!

Thank you for your support.

12.   I am a foreign company looking to promote my products and services in Slovakia. May I list in the portal as well?

This site is meant for Slovak companies looking to promote their products and services to non-Slovak companies, and outside of Slovakia. If you wish to make yourself known to Slovak companies, you may wish to do an email broadcast or other forms of advertisements/promotions which we or our strategic partners do oiffer, for a price. Please what you wish and we can discuss further with you.
